We built the app
we wished existed

MyWhy started with a simple observation: most people don't need more nutrition data. They need a way to see whether their meals are actually working for them, week by week.

The calorie trap

We've all been there. Download the app. Scan every barcode. Weigh the chicken breast. Log the olive oil. Feel good for about a week. Then life gets busy, you miss a day, guilt creeps in, and the app goes quiet in a folder somewhere on your phone.

That cycle of motivation, obsession, burnout, and shame isn't your fault. It's the app's fault. Every calorie tracker on the market assumes that weight loss is a math problem. Eat less than you burn. Simple, right?

Except it isn't. And anyone who's tried knows that.

What if the app didn't ask you to count anything at all? What if it just asked one question: did that meal support you, or didn't it?

The idea that started MyWhy

Radically simple

MyWhy works differently than anything else out there. You snap a photo of your meal, tell the app what time of day it is, and answer one question: did this meal support your goals, or not?

That's it. No calorie math. No barcode scanning. No macro breakdowns. Just a moment of real awareness that takes a few seconds.

Each check-in feeds into your weekly chart. Supportive meals push the bar up. Unsupportive ones pull it down. You can see your week taking shape in real time, and the goal is simple: keep your bar above the line.

The "human" line

Here's the part we're most proud of. If your bar dips below the goal, you don't get a red warning. You don't get a guilt trip. You hit what we call the "human" line.

Because that's all it means. You had a week where you were human. You ate some things that didn't align with your goals. Everyone does. It's not a failure. It's just a week. And next week is already waiting for you.

We built it this way on purpose. Most apps punish you for falling short. MyWhy just reflects what happened and lets you decide what to do next. No judgment. No shame counter. Just clarity.

Built for the new era

The landscape of weight loss is changing fast. GLP-1 medications are giving people powerful new tools, but the behavioral side of the journey still matters. Medication can reduce hunger, but it doesn't automatically change the habits and patterns that shape how you eat day to day.

MyWhy was designed to be the behavioral companion to these treatments. We help people track their medication, reflect on their meals, and see their patterns play out over time, so the progress they're making actually lasts.

The principles behind every feature

📸

Simple beats complex

Snap a photo. Answer one question. Done. If a feature takes more than a few seconds, most people won't use it. We designed every screen around that truth.

🤲

Your story stays yours

Your reflections, your photos, your Why. They live on your device. We made that choice on day one and it's never changing. Some things are too personal to put on a server.

📊

See your week, not your calories

One chart. Supportive meals vs. unsupportive ones. That's enough to tell you whether your week is working for you, without drowning you in numbers.

🌱

Being human isn't failing

A bad week doesn't make you a bad person. When your bar dips below the goal line, you hit the "human" line. Because that's all it is. A human week. Move on.

Built for modern treatments

GLP-1 medications are changing everything. MyWhy helps you track your treatment, stay consistent, and pair the medication with the behavioral awareness that makes results stick.

💛

The whole person matters

Weight loss doesn't happen in a vacuum. Stress, sleep, routines, and emotions all play a role. MyWhy treats you like a person, not a spreadsheet.

MyWhy is for the people
who've tried everything

For the person who's downloaded five calorie trackers and deleted all of them. For the person starting a GLP-1 medication and wondering how to build habits that last. For the parent who just wants more energy to keep up with their kids.

If you've ever thought "I know what to eat, I just can't seem to stay consistent," this app was built for you.

A note from the founder

I've been a yo-yo dieter my entire adult life, fluctuating between 200 and 300 pounds for years. In 2019, I hit my best shape at around 200 lbs. Then COVID happened. A debilitating flat foot surgery followed. I stopped moving, started DoorDashing every meal, and before I knew it, I was 400 pounds.

I tried everything. I bought the books. I downloaded the calorie trackers. I'd start a gym routine, stay consistent for a week, maybe two, and then fall off. The apps made it worse — logging every gram of chicken breast, scanning barcodes, feeling guilty when I missed a day. I know myself. I'm not going to count macros. And if I do, it's going to last a few days before life gets in the way.

One day I saw a poster at a gym that said "Remember Your Why." Something about that hit different. I found a journal on Amazon built around that idea, but it was too inconvenient. I wanted something I could see on my phone every day — something that wouldn't let me forget why I started in the first place. I looked for an app like that. It didn't exist.

So I built it. I'm a mortgage broker by trade with over 10 years in marketing, not a developer by training. But this was personal. I know what's healthy for me, and I know what's not. I don't need an app to tell me how many calories are in a banana. I need an app that helps me stay consistent. That's what MyWhy is — the app I wished existed when I was at my lowest.

The "human" line exists because I've been below it more times than I can count. I wanted an app that says "that's okay" instead of "you failed." If MyWhy has helped you have even one better week than the one before, that's a win. And I'll keep building to earn the next one.
